The week was amazing. I was part of an Erasmus-project founded by the European Union in Valencia. I was there with good friends of mine. Therefore I would like to share my experience with you guys!
We arrived at Valencia on the 3rd of November. It was a sunny beautiful day. My host family was at the airport waiting for me. After this, we went to my host family’s house and spent some quality time together. Next day the host family took me to a fancy restaurant on Valencia’s beach. We ate some Spanish traditional food: paella.
The next week was full of joy. We had a nice program filled with sports, food, communication, videos, and history. Our school days started always at 8.20am and usually ended at 5 pm.
The first day started with a really delicious breakfast. I was surprised by the quality of the food. It was so good! There were for example fruits, juices, bread, meats, and cheeses. After this, we were introduced to the Spanish educational system and history. For me, this was one of the most interesting things during the whole week.
Tuesday was a really varied day. Our day started with ”Let’s learn Spanish”. I think that the program was useful for the students. After this, we had occupational therapy, mindfulness, pilates, laugh therapy, thai-chi, and Latin dance. Woah! I think the most efficient and comfortable program was pilates. It was so stress-relieving!
Wednesday started with topics related to mental health. We were talking about mental issues and stress. The Spanish teachers developed a different kind of ”stress-relieving games” for us. It was such a nice experience. We played for example strategy games that helped reduce stress.
On Thursday the theme was “US”. Everything that was told, was really interesting. To me the best part of the day was the bike riding. We cycled around Valencia, and got to see so many amazing things that we could never see in Helsinki. After the cycling we went to the beach to play fun games, of which the teacher got some really great pictures. After the beach we all went to the nearby restaurant to eat some super delicious paella.
The last day we saw some videos of the stereotypes of every country that participated in the program. Most of them were really funny. After that we went to the hall to the ceremony and listen to great speeches. We were given certificates and we took some photos. To me the whole thing was kind of emotional, because it was the ending of something so great.
The program was a really great experience. I loved it so much and I wish I could do the same again. I think I speak for all of us when I say that we are extremely thankful for the opportunity to get in on such an amazing project. Everything was very well organized and everyone had so much fun.
